I'm one of the founders of a small Kansas City based studio. We've been working on Shopify websites for the past year or so, doing theme installs, etc.. and the biggest roadblock we've encountered with owners who use themes is: pages except the homepage tend to feel incredibly basic.
We found ourselves coding out custom informational pages (about us, FAQ, etc) over and over. We finally decided to create what we're calling an About Us extension - a customizable About Us page template that can be totally managed from the theme settings section of your store after installation. It's totally independent code that can be dropped into a Shopify page template (requires liquid editing!). You also have the ability to re-order the elements, and turn them on/off. This could absolutely be used for something other than an about-us page, too.
We've tested this on a handful of themes with good results, so we're officially moving into testing.
