App Development - Automatically Sync Product Variant Inventory by Matthew Thomson

Hello

I'm looking at getting a (hopefully simple) app created to help better organise my inventory.

Basically I design and make handmade bags and use the product options to display the customisations available to the customer (and associate an image that shows the selected options).

As the majority of my bags are made to order and only actually sewn after the customer purchases the bags there is lots of flexibility with the customisation , this includes:

1. fabric panel - as each panel is slightly different a customer can usually choose between three variations for a product (so if it was a fabric with birds on it the first might have three birds, the second five and the third two birds).

2. side worn - this means a customer can specify which side they wears their bag (left or right) which also affects how zipper is sewn in and the internal pockets configured

3. strap colour - this is the easiest option (as the straps clip on and off) and there are usually six colours to choose from.

Below is a screenshot of a test product.

So basically what I require is an app that syncs the inventory of all the variants that share the first option.

This means once any variant that includes the option "First Choice" is purchased all the inventory of the other variants with this option are also depleted (so all their inventories are now 0) as once this panel of fabric is sold no other products can be sold that use this panel.

I've looked at the app Shopify Assistant, which uses bundles to sync inventory and would actually do the job in a roundabout way. The only problem being that three tasks need to be created for each product (one for variants that share 'First Choice', one for those that share 'Second Choice' and a third for those that share 'Third Choice').

If there was a way an app could be constructed to do all of this automatically that would be terrific.

Of course let me know if you require further details etc or would like access to the test site.

Cheers

Matt Thomson
